Wax Melts
Each of our wax melt snap bars are approx. 50g in weight.
We recommend using 1/2 cubes each time, depending on the size of the well on your burner, and the room you are melting them in. 1 is plenty for smaller rooms, you may want to use 2 for larger spaces.
You should expect to get a full scent throw from this for between 1-3 standard, unscented 4 hour tea lights, depending on the scent and the type of burner you are using. Please note, glass top burners get far hotter and will evaporate the fragrance oils much quicker than ceramic ones.
We generally get 8 hours per 10g of wax before needing to replace it and sometimes more depending on the scent, (some just last longer!).
So each bar should roughly give you between 40-60 hours of scent from each bar.
A wax melt is a piece of scented wax, that is placed into an oil burner/wax warmer with a tealight placed underneath to heat and melt it. As the wax melts, the scent is released into the air leaving your home smelling fresh and wonderful!
They generally are a cheaper alternative to candles, there is an infinite range of scents available out there and almost as many styles, shapes and sizes of wax melt.
Creators of wax melts love the freedom of invention we have with creating a wax melt. You can layer colours, paint them, add glitter, botanicals and shimmers. There are never ending possibilities! Whether you make wax melts or just use them at home, we guarantee you will be hooked the moment you get your hands on them!
We use several different waxes here at HOH, all chosen for their individual properties.
Candles
We use a blend of paraffin and soy wax for our signature Moon Face candles.
Paraffin wax has second to none scent throw properties, it's used by many top designer candle makers for this reason! It basically creates lovely strong smelling candles!
However it does burn fairly quickly, so in order to balance this we blend a percentage of soy into the mix to help slow the burn and give your candle a longer life.
Soy also has that lovely natural creamy colour which is perfect for the look of our moons, whereas paraffin is very veryyyy white.
This blend also makes it easier to remove from moulds to create this specific candle.
3 wick candles are paraffin based for excellent scent throw and final look, they also work great with our eco wicks!
Wax melts
Snap bars again are a blend of both soy and paraffin waxes. Paraffin gives a lovely shine to our snap bars and that satisfying "snap" when you break into them! Soy holds scent and allows an even scent throw for our melts which we love and hope you do too! We also think that 100% soy does start to have that "waxy" smell as it burns which distracts from the scent you are using, so our paraffin helps to tone that down and ensure you smell the scent you chose for longer.
Wax tins
As explained in another question, these are made from a blend of coconut oil and soy wax, great for melting in electric burners and mess free wax changing. Our not so secret favourite!
If you have any questions at all about any of the waxes we use, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
